1. Share what you had expected to learn about the topic before the
class.
a.
I expected to discuss ways to manage and cope with changes in
the work place.
2. What you actually learned from the unit.
a.
I learned about different ways to cope with change. We discussed the book “Who moved my Cheese?”
and different ways people cope with change.
We talked about when a new CEO is hired how they often change all of
upper management to facilitate an easier transition for him/her. Loss of a job, or changes in policy, etc. are
inevitable. That’s the only thing that’s
consistent right? Change.
3. How you will utilize the information learned in your nursing
practice.
a. I need to
learn to adjust and cope well with change.
This skill is vital in being successful.
Especially as a home health nurse, I feel like things are changing
constantly. If we don’t adapt, we don’t
survive.
4.
Your personal feelings
about the material covered.
a.
Change is hard!! I still
maintain that I am most like Haw. I
struggle in the beginning, but seem to adapt eventually. I hope to be able to adjust a little more
quickly in the future. Practice makes
perfect right?
My “big change” this week
was to order something different at one of my favorite restaurants. I know that
seems like a little thing, but I haven’t ordered something different at this
place in probably 8 years. I enjoyed the
dish…but I’ll still go back to the tried an true next time.
