Conflict Resolution Reflective Journal Entry

1.    Share what you had expected to learn about the topic before the class.
a.    I expected to discuss healthy ways to resolve conflicts, in particular in our line of work.  As a manager, keeping the peace and solving conflict among our employees is difficult.  I expected we would learn methods to do this effectively.
2.    What you actually learned from the unit.
a.    We discussed Unions quite a bit.  The pro’s and con’s of unionization, why they were formed, the purpose now, and if they are worth it.  We discussed how difficult it is to negotiate in a union situation, and if they help or harm.
3.   How you will utilize the information learned in your nursing practice.
a.    Hopefully, I will never join a union.  As a future manager (hopefully) I’ll be able to help resolve conflict and be a great manager.
4.    Your personal feelings about the material covered.

a.    The information is always good, and I hope to use what I learned in my career.  I might suggest not such a long class on the last day of classes, REALLY hard to keep focused and be a good class.  Thanks for the semester.
